SYOSSET - A Syosset native is heading to the London 2012 Olympic Games and is hoping to come home with her third gold medal. Basketball star Sue Bird aims to break her two-streak: she has won two high school state titles, two WNBA titles and two Olympic gold medals. Bird has been shooting hoops since she was a kid. She left her impression at Christ the King High School, and she has a message for other youngsters who dream big: "I was just a girl from Long Island who got to play and ended up winning a gold medal," she says. "If I can do it, so can you."News 12 Long Island Special: Long Island OlympiansNesconset athlete steps closer to her dreamShelter Island sailor going for gold in London Olympics
