SMITHTOWN - Police are searching for the suspect who robbed an elderly man as a possible hate crime in Smithtown. 

Police say in October the man and another man followed the victim into the Chase Bank on Route 347. 

According to police, they then distracted the older man and stole money from his vehicle. 

Detectives believe the suspects may have committed this same crime before.
