Suspect wanted in fatal Hempstead hit-and-run

Police say the 88-year-old was hit on Peninsula Avenue around 6:30 a.m. yesterday.

HEMPSTEAD - Police are searching for the driver who hit an elderly woman in Hempstead and left her to die in the road.

Police say the 88-year-old was hit on Peninsula Avenue around 6:30 a.m. yesterday.

The victim was taken to the hospital where she died.

Police have not released the woman’s name. 

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
