LIDO BEACH - The widow of a beloved Long Beach math teacher who was killed while surfing in Indonesia in July came out to Lido Beach today to help others learn about the healing power of the ocean.

Daniel Bobis' widow, Rachel, along with his friends, family and members of his surf club, spent the day teaching some 100 special-needs children about the healing powers of catching waves. The event was held under the auspices of Surfers Healing camp.

"Just to be able to share my love for the waves with these children and their families is priceless," says surfer Garrett McNamara.

Each of the kids who took part in today's event went home with a Surfers Healing medal, which says on the back, "In Memory of Daniel Bobis."

Surfers Healing was started by world champion surfer Izzy Paskowitz and his wife, Danielle, as a unique therapy for their autistic son.
