LONG BEACH - Friends and family came together in Long Beach today to remember a 32-year-old math teacher who was killed while surfing in Indonesia last month.

Those in attendance shared stories and memories about Bobis.

"He was one of the most amazing people to walk this earth," said friend and colleague John Dean. "There's only a handful of people you can give that title to and he is definitely one of them."

Many are still struggling to come to grips with the death of Danny Bobis, who was first reported missing by his wife Rachel after he disappeared while surfing off the Indonesian island of South Sumatra. Bobis was found on a beach by fishermen a few days later.

Friends say Bobis was a veteran surfer with years of experience, making his death all the more shocking. The circumstances surrounding his apparent drowning are still unclear.
