HAUPPAUGE - Suffolk leaders today announced a series of public hearings for county residents who are having trouble making ends meet. Officials say the hearings come as a result of last year's census, which showed an increase in Suffolk County residents who say they're struggling financially. They say they hope to find solutions to locals' problems. Dr. Richard Koubeck, of the Welfare to Work Commission, says he hopes to see policy changes, like an adjustment of the poverty level.
