Suffolk SPCA stops taking some calls
WOODBURY - The Suffolk SPCA says it has stopped responding to some calls because the county isn't fully protecting its officers from lawsuits.
SPCA Director Gerald Lauber says the liability exceeds the risk.
In the meantime, the SPCA is deferring some calls to local animal shelters and Suffolk police.

They are still offering assistance to police when requested.
