Suffolk scam alert website aims to head off schemers

RIDGE - A new website set up by Suffolk County officials aims to keep residents a step ahead of scammers.

A scam alert website can be found on the Suffolk Police Department's website. It lists all the latest reported scams, like ones where callers claim unsuspecting victims have won cash or prizes and simply have to fork over the tax money first. Suffolk Legislator Sarah Anker (D-Mount Sinai) sponsored the legislation to create the scam alert site.
