WOODBURY - Suffolk bus riders held a press conference today demanding more state money for the county bus system.
Riders delivered a petition to Sen. Phil Boyle's office in Bay Shore, signed by 1,500 people.
They say the state gives Nassau $60 million, and the county only pays $2.5 million.
In contrast, the state only gives $20 million to Suffolk County and the county pays $30 million.
During state budget negotiations Suffolk Executive Steve Bellone wrote letters to state officials seeking more aid. The new budget includes just $500,000 in additional funding.
