WOODBURY - A new bill in Suffolk proposes using beet brine to treat the roads in winter storms. 

Supporters say beet juice brine is effective in temperatures as low as 25 degrees below zero. 

The brine we use now is ineffective for the environment. 

The bill could be considered next month.
