MOUNT SINAI - A Suffolk County police officer is being commended as a hero after he saved a man having a heart attack.

Officer Lance Prager says he had just finished an Advanced Life Support training shift and was shopping at Agway in Mt. Sinai when he saw an elderly man collapse. Prager says the 86-year-old man wasn't breathing and had no pulse after suffering a heart attack.

Prager gave the victim mouth-to-mouth and CPR until emergency responders showed up. The victim has been hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
