WOODBURY - Suffolk police, acting on information from the NYPD, say there does not appear to be any connection between a murder suspect arrested in Westchester County and the Gilgo Beach murders.

NYPD detectives had been questioning Lucius Crawford, 60, in connection with a number of unsolved murders when they informed Suffolk County about the suspect.

Officials say Crawford was taken into custody last night at a home in Mount Vernon on suspicion of two 19-year-old homicides in New York.

According to police, when they arrived in the apartment, they found the body of a 41-year-old woman who was stabbed to death.

According to the NYPD, Suffolk police were contacted about Crawford’s arrest because of Crawford's extensive history of violence against women.

Suffolk police tell News 12 Long Island that they'll continue to investigate until Crawford is completely ruled out as a suspect.
