RONKONKOMA - A Suffolk County mom says she was shocked to discovered what appeared to be small shards of glass in her baby wipes.

Rosanna Zamora, of Ronkonkoma, was scanning Facebook when she noticed a post from a mother who claimed to find what she believed were pieces of glass in her Huggies baby wipes.

Zamora says she uses the same wipes, and immediately went to check a pack she recently bought. To her shock, she says her pack also contained what appeared to be glass.

Thousands of comments were posted to Huggies' Facebook page from parents claiming to have similar problems. Some described reactions their children experienced from the wipes, ranging from rashes to scratches.

Some defending the company include a mom from Connecticut who says she believes the shards are not glass, but are part of the wipes themselves. The mom also says the irritation experienced "is due to the fact that many children and adults have sensitivities to the compounds in the wipes."

Zamora says that no matter what the problem may actually be, she wants a product recall for the wipes. "I hope they do something about it... before something really bad happens," she says.

Huggies posted a statement on its Facebook page, which says in part, "We take any concerns about our products very seriously and we are working directly with this parent to learn more about what happened and how we can help. We have stringent quality controls in place, and no glass is used during the manufacture of our wipes."
