WOODBURY - Suffolk County's Republican Party is giving back a $100,000 campaign contribution made by County Executive Steve Levy (R-Suffolk). Levy used the money from his $4 million campaign war chest to make the donation, which came just two weeks before it was announced that his fundraising was the target of a corruption investigation by Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota.Levy also announced that he would not run for re-election and agreed to hand over all of his campaign funds to the district attorney. The chairman of the Suffolk GOP says it appears that Levy may have known about the investigation before making the contribution.
