ISLANDIA - Suffolk County Democrats are assembling at their headquarters in Islandia this Election Day to keep close tabs on key local races. Rep. Timothy Bishop (D-Southampton) is looking to pick up his sixth term in the 1st District. He is once again pitted against Republican Randy Altschuler, and the two have been locked in a nasty attack ad war for months. Another race Suffolk Democrats are watching closely tonight is the one for the next supervisor of the Town of Brookhaven. Former Supervisor Mark Lesko left suddenly in August to work in the private sector. His chief-of-staff Brian Beedenbender is taking on County Legislator Ed Romaine for the spot. The race in the 4th Senate District is another key race for Democrats and it has no incumbent. Democratic County Legislator Rick Mantano is hoping to scoop up the seat. He's up against Phil Boyle, a Republican Assemblyman.
