Suffolk DA: Summer task force made nearly 200 DWI arrests

WOODBURY - Suffolk District Attorney Thomas Spota today announced this summer's East End DWI crackdown was a success and that he'll be targeting more than just the roads next year. The district attorney today announced that almost 200 drunken drivers were pulled off the road this summer through his task force. Spota's pilot program, which launched in May, brought together the East End police departments in an all-out effort to curb driving while intoxicated. Spota says drunken boating is also a concern for the task force. Next year, he says there will be an increased effort to target intoxicated boaters. This summer's increased DWI patrols were funded through money Spota's office seized from drug dealers.Suffolk DA announces DWI task force
