SOUTHAMPTON - Investigators with the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office raided Southampton Town Hall today, seizing boxes of personnel files related to the Southampton Police Department. Investigators served a subpoena as part of an active investigation of the custodianship of police department records. Officials have not revealed what information they're seeking. Town Supervisor Anna Throne-Holst says she ordered the files in question to be moved from police headquarters to the town clerk's office last year after hearing that they weren't being handled properly. The files have to do with internal investigations within the police department, she says. The supervisor says the allegations came just before the new police chief took over from the former chief, who had retired after 30 years. She says she hopes the district attorney gets to the bottom of it.
