COMMACK - Two Suffolk County police officers were honored Monday for pulling a woman from her burning car in Lake Grove last year.

Stephanie McNamee, 23, was trapped and unconscious behind the wheel after a three-car crash last November. Officers David Vlacich and Bryan Boudreaux were honored at a ceremony for their quick thinking and bravery. They are credited with saving McNamee's life.

Vlacich says he thinks about the night often and how his instincts kicked in. Boudreaux, a father of three, says McNamee's parents are extremely grateful. "Anybody who is a parent out there would know that your children are the most priceless thing that you have," he says.

McNamee was supposed to be at the ceremony, but was unable to make it due to a scheduling issue.

Good Samaritan David Ayala was also honored at the ceremony though he was absent. Ayala was driving by when he saw McNamee's car on fire. He helped authorities pull McNamee out of her car.
