WOODBURY - More than 100,000 LIPA customers are still without power and Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone has announced he's cutting ties with LIPA leadership to get the lights back on in Suffolk as quickly as possible.

Bellone says he's dealing directly with substation managers to restore power.

"We are now communicating directly with the substation managers who are the ones doing the work on the ground to get the power back on," says Bellone, who claims LIPA's lack of communication is what made him take matters into his own hands.

Bellone has promised to return power to 99 percent of Suffolk County by tonight.
