WOODBURY - Suffolk County is bracing for the biggest round of layoffs in county history and officials say pink slips will soon be in the mail.

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone is struggling with a massive $530 million budget hole.

Suffolk officials are meeting this week to take a look at the 422 layoffs set for the end of the month, according to Newsday.

The DA's office and medical examiner would have been hit hard by the layoffs planned by the Levy administration.

Bellone's office hopes to protect essential services.
