WOODBURY - The next time you hop on your bicycle to go for a ride on the Island, you may be putting yourself in mortal danger, according to a Newsday study.

The study has found that riding a bike is more dangerous on Long Island than anywhere else in the tri-state area.

Long Island has higher death rates for people riding bicycles than New Jersey, Connecticut, and even New York City.

Since 2005, 64 bike riders have been killed on the Island. Experts say the problem is that local roads have not been designed for bicyclists.
