BROOKHAVEN - Suffolk County students kicked off a holiday food drive Monday.

The goal of the Town of Brookhaven's Interface Youth Bureau is to make sure more Long Island residents have something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.

Students helped collect food and gift cards for the town's Thanksgiving Food Drive. Last year, they fed more than 800 families.

Food donations can be dropped off at Independence Hill, the Brookhaven Town Highway Department, the Henrietta Acampora Recreation Center and the Rose Caracappa Senior Center.

In addition to the food drive, the Youth Bureau is helping families in the town fight drug abuse.
