MINEOLA - A local strip club owner appeared in Nassau County Supreme Court today, asking to reverse a decision preventing him from opening a new establishment in Wantagh.

As News 12 Long Island has reported, in October 2011, the Hempstead Town Zoning Board of Appeals approved a cabaret license for Billy Dean's nightclub, but then revoked it.

Many Wantagh residents have come out against Dean's new venture due to concerns that it will be similar to his North Bellmore establishment called the Showtime Café, which is advertised as Long Island's No. 1 strip club.

However, Dean insists that his business would be a restaurant catering to bachelor and bachelorette parties.

The site of Dean's new cabaret is located along Sunrise Highway, which is zoned for business.

The judge could take up to 60 days to make a decision on the permit.
