WHEATLEY HEIGHTS - The owner of a Wheatley Heights store is accused of lying about a burglary during the height of Sandy.

Wilguens Mentor allegedly told police $60,000 worth of merchandise had been stolen from his store, Fly Forever Sneakers, during Sandy.

However, an investigation found that no merchandise had been taken.

The Wyandanch man is now charged with attempted insurance fraud and falsely reporting an incident.
