EAST SETAUKET - A family is still looking for justice nearly a year after their loved one was mowed down by a hit-and-run driver.

Joseph Santiago was struck and killed on Aug. 23, 2013 by a driver who left the scene on Ridgeway Avenue near Main Street in East Setauket. His body was found lying in the street by a LIPA worker who happened to be passing by.

The 47-year-old was a local handyman and a guy who loved playing sports.

Detectives recovered evidence from the scene and say they know the car that killed Santiago is a white Hyundai sedan made between 1999 and 2006.

Anyone with information on the crime is urged to call Suffolk County's Vehicular Crimes Unit through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
