LONG BEACH - The finances of the cash-strapped City of Long Beach are going under the state's microscope.

The State Comptroller's Office says it will audit Long Beach's finances, with a focus on how much it spent on summer programs.

The new city manager declared a fiscal emergency in January, citing a $48 million budget gap.
