ROBERT MOSES - Officials kept all state parks on Long Island closed today because of damage caused by Irene.

The State Parks Department says it did what it could to protect the parks before Irene slammed the Island. However, despite the preparations, many parks are still without electricity and some, including Robert Moses and Jones Beach, suffered extensive flooding and erosion.

Parks officials say they haven't determined if all of the parks will be reopened in time for Labor Day weekend.
