MINEOLA - A police standoff created afternoon tension Thursday in Mineola.

Residents of Latham Road say they were told to stay indoors for four hours as police and a SWAT team closed in on the area. Others were told to evacuate. 

The situation was resolved peacefully without any shots being fired. Neighbors say police told them the situation involved a gun.

It is unclear what sparked the standoff or if any arrests have been made.
