WOODBURY - Nassau County has reportedly begun to operate speed cameras in local school zones.

The goal is to improve traffic safety and raise money for the county.

Cameras have been placed at Plainedge Middle School in Bethpage, Dutch Lane Elementary School in Hicksville and Abbey Lane School in Levittown.

By October, 56 cameras are expected to be set up, with one in each school district.
