SPCA reportedly gets new insurance contract; avoids closing

WOODBURY - The Suffolk County SPCA was in jeopardy of closing its doors but now officials say they are staying in business.

The SPCA previously said it might have to stop investigating abuse complaints after its insurance company dropped it because of a pending lawsuit.

According to Newsday, the animal protection agency has gotten a new insurance contract.

The insurer specializes in non-profits and other animal protection groups.
