CENTRAL ISLIP - The Suffolk County SPCA says a cockfighting ring was broken up in Central Islip.

Victor Bonilla and son Jessie Brandon Maldonado were arrested Thursday morning on Monsen Street.

Officials say they received a call alerting them to a fight that was about the take place.

When officers arrived, they say they found 17 fighting birds and a large amount of fighting implements including a ring.

News 12 Long Island's Rich Barrabi tried to speak with Bonilla in front of his home:

Bonilla: I don't speak English.
Barrabi: Well can I ask you if you know anything about a cockfighting ring here?
Bonilla: I don't know nothing about that.
Barrabi: Is your name Victor?
Bonilla: Yes.
Barrabi: OK, were you arrested then?
Bonilla: I got arrested last night, yeah.
Barrabi: Are you guilty? Not guilty?
Bonilla: No hablo Ingles.
