Southampton police: Man struck, killed by car

SOUTHAMPTON - Southampton police say a man was struck by a car and killed on Friday night.

The accident happened on County Road 39 by Tuckahoe Lane around 10:30 p.m.

Police say the victim, 37-year-old Claude Eleazer, was crossing the road when he was struck by a passing vehicle driven by a 26-year-old woman.

Eleazer was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The driver stayed at the scene and has not been charged, News 12 is told. The vehicle involved was impounded for a safety check.
