LONG BEACH - Homeowners on the South Shore told News 12 that they are not taking any chances with a potential hurricane on the horizon.

Hurricane Joaquin's track is still uncertain, but the storm has triggered memories of Superstorm Sandy, which devastated many communities with floodwaters.

Forecasters say another storm is set to arrive Friday, which is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds.

Katch Janawsky, who just moved from Manhattan to Babylon with her husband and two young children, isn't quite sure what to expect.

"I'm trying to do my best to get all the food and prepare, so that we can stay in the house for a couple days and have some meals," Janawsky says.

Other residents have stocked up on gas for generators and are preparing for the worst the storm can potentially bring.
