Sources: Trump, NYS Parks Dept. near deal on controversial project

Sources tell News 12 Long Island that lawyers are working on a settlement that could get the much anticipated Trump on the Ocean project going

JONES BEACH - Sources tell News 12 Long Island that lawyers are working on a settlement that could get the much anticipated Trump on the Ocean project going again.

For nearly six years, the controversial project has been tied up in litigation.

Sources say Donald Trump and the NYS Parks Department could be close to a settlement, which would allow the developer to build a restaurant and catering hall at Jones Beach State Park.

Civic leader Pat Friedman says if the state doesn't open the project to competitive bidding, the case may need to be taken to federal court.

Neither the state nor the local parks department would comment on the settlement talks.
