LONG BEACH - Despite a mandatory evacuation in Long Beach, some residents say they are not going to budge from their homes. Some residents in the low-lying community say they have boarded up their homes and are prepared for Hurricane Irene. Mandatory evacuations began in Long Beach at 5 p.m. Saturday. Meanwhile, a sand dune was erected near the shoreline to stop the water from surging and flooding streets.
