VALLEY STREAM - A 5-year-old girl got the surprise of her life today when her soldier father surprised her at school after spending nine months overseas.

Army Spc. Michael Zervos wanted to do something special for his daughter after being away in Afghanistan for such a long time. His daughter, Danielle, had asked for her dad every day while he was gone.

The Zervos family worked for months with Danielle's school, Robert W. Carbonaro Elementary in Valley Stream, to plan out the details.
