ROSLYN HEIGHTS - Heavy traffic delays from the winter storm made evening commutes extremely slow for drivers in Nassau and Suffolk counties.

The Long Island Expressway, Northern State Parkway and other major roadways slowed to a crawl Tuesday evening.

Motorists were asked to keep off the roads if possible, but drivers who had to head out were advised to use caution.

The snow is expected to continue through the night, ending by Wednesday morning.
