SELDEN - The new blanket of snow that covered the Island proved to be a boon for some entrepreneurial local residents.

Richard Oberlander said for 50 years, he's been using his truck to plow snow for homes and businesses in Huntington.

"It runs into a couple of thousand dollars," said Oberlander about the money he makes during snowstorms.

The local hardware store in Huntington, County Line Hardware, said it welcomes snowfall because profits go up on sales of items such as shovels, ice melt and scrapers.
