KINGS PARK - A big piece of the old Kings Park Psychiatric Center has been demolished.

The large smokestack at the old psychiatric center was imploded at around 2 p.m.

The implosion was part of the overall demolition of the former Kings Park Psychiatric Center, a $25 million project paid for by the state to pave the way for the redevelopment of the property.

Three more structures at the former psychiatric center are scheduled to be torn down to make way for redevelopment of the property.
