WOODBURY - The torrential rains that hit Long Island yesterday caused Smith Pond in Woodbury to overflow, filling backyards and basements with water in Merrick and Bellmore.

The flooding was so heavy, a town worker trying to clean a storm drain was swept away and had to be rescued by co-workers.

The Nassau County Public Works Department says the woman is now doing fine. Weather Center Watch News 12 Watch Traffic and Weather Submit Photos/Video
