Small plane makes emergency landing at Smith Point Park

A small plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Smith Point County Park Saturday.

SHIRLEY - A small plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Smith Point County Park Saturday.

The landing happened a few hundred yards from the crowds on the beach.

Witnesses tell Newsday the plane came down with its engine off, flew over beachgoers and landed near the dunes just before 12 p.m.

Police say no one was hurt.
