VALLEY STREAM - Police have released a sketch of a man who authorities say raped a woman at Valley Stream State Park Sunday.

Authorities say a woman in her 60s was walking on a trail in the park at around 11 a.m. when she was accosted. After the rape and assault, authorities say the suspect ran away and the woman went for help.

Police used K-9 units to canvas the park, but did not find the suspect. Today, authorities stopped every walker, jogger and bicyclist who came into the park and showed them the sketch in hopes that someone recognizes the man.

The suspect is described as about 5 feet 7 inches and between 25-35 years old with short black hair and braids on the side.

Anyone who has seen the man is urged to call police at 631-321-3700.
