EAST ROCKAWAY - A man remains on the loose after police say he stole from an Ocean Avenue CVS and carjacked a woman's vehicle in her East Rockaway driveway yesterday.

A store manager chased the man down to Prospect Avenue and was able to retrieve the stolen merchandise. The suspected shoplifter then carjacked a 23-year-old woman's vehicle in her driveway. He crashed into a parked car and sped off, driving over the woman's front lawn.

"He never said a word, never looked at us," says neighbor Bill VanWickler, who tried to stop the man. "He was very focused on just escaping."

The victim's gray 2009 Toyota Corolla remains missing. It has a New York license plate marked EVW 1600.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
