Severe storms leave Long Island relatively unscathed

WOODBURY - After another stormy Sunday, Long Island escaped relatively unscathed from the most recent severe storms.

The scattered storms did cause some minor flooding but did not drop the 7+ inches of rain like last week's storm.

The high winds toppled some trees and caused a few power outages. As of 10 p.m., LIPA reports that more than 700 homes are without power.

The storms also caused a lot of havoc on the transportation systems.

The Long Island Rail Road suspended part of its service on the Long Beach branch and had delays of up to 90 minutes on multiple branches at one point but service has been mostly restored across the system.

Airports have reported delays of more than one hour due to the severe weather.
