WOODBURY - Consumers who have complaints against LIPA may soon have a better way to air them.

The state Senate unanimously voted today to approve the LIPA Oversight and Accountability Act. The bill, which has already cleared the Assembly, would let state officials conduct audits of the utility. It would also let customers file complaints with the state's Consumer Protection Agency instead of National Grid.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.) still has to sign off on the bill.
