WOODBURY - A state senator has denied reports that he's under investigation.
In a report released by WNBC, it states the Nassau District Attorney's Office is looking into Sen. Carl Marcellino.
The Oyster Bay senator reportedly billed $20,000 in vehicle expenses to his campaign committee. However, at the same time he allegedly received more than $18,000 in state reimbursement for the same expense.
News 12 Long Island reached out to Acting Nassau District Attorney Madeline Singas. Singas is not saying whether there's an investigation into Marcellino, but released a statement saying, "Albany's mileage reimbursement and per diem system requires no backup documentation and is prone to abuse. I encourage the Legislature to take prompt action to give New Yorkers confidence that lawmakers are not padding their salaries at taxpayer expense."
