Selden man, Angel Laporte, accused of public lewdness appears in court

EAST NORTHPORT - A Selden man appeared before a judge today for multiple acts of public lewdness over the past nine months.

In the latest incident, police say 54-year-old Angel Laporte was caught touching himself at the Barnes & Noble in East Northport late Friday night.

Prosecutors say the unemployed Laporte told police that this is "an evil he's been fighting his whole life." The also say Laporte is a veteran and a registered sex offender in Connecticut.

Laporte is also accused of committing lewd acts at libraries in Deer Park, Commack and West Babylon.

Suffolk police arrested Laporte in front of his home on Bear Street on Saturday.
