JONES BEACH - Nassau and state police expanded their search today for more remains in the Gilgo Beach bodies case.

Investigators were on foot and in the air as they scoured the brush along the southern Wantagh State Parkway from Merrick Road to Ocean Parkway. It marks the first time officials have moved their search off the barrier island.

The search comes a day after the one-year anniversary of the disappearance of 24-year-old prostitute Shannan Gilbert, which first led police to the discovery of bodies last December. Since then, at least nine sets of human remains have been found in the area off Ocean Parkway.
