Police have not identified the man, but family told News 12 this weekend that crews are searching for Kevin Conley.

LAKE RONKONKOMA - It's been nearly a week since a kayaker went missing in the water at Lake Ronkonkoma and search efforts have not been successful.

As News 12 has reported, a man identified by his family as Kevin Conley has been missing since Thursday. A witness says he saw the man struggling to stay above water.

A 911 call triggered a massive search by air and on the water, which included divers from several fire and police departments.

Conley's kayak was found Friday. His father, Harold, is keeping vigil at his Sound Beach home he shared with Kevin.

Conley said that police have been calling him with updates on the search for his son. He says though Kevin was battling Huntington's disease, the incurable brain illness did not keep him from enjoying the outdoors.
