Seaford mom rescues 3 kids, grandma from house fire

SEAFORD - A Seaford mother is being hailed a hero after getting her family out of their burning home early this morning. According to investigators, a mother, her three young children and their grandmother were inside the home on Seminole Avenue when a massive fire broke out at around 3 a.m. Cherly Clifton tells News 12 Long Island that her neighbor was screaming while she carried out her children, ages 7, 4 and 3, and her mother. Firefighters say the family escaped moments before the entire home was engulfed in flames. All five appear to be in good condition. Fire officials say the ferocious flames destroyed not only the home, but also the family's boat that was in a canal behind the home. The family's home was left completely unlivable, and this afternoon, a construction company arrived on the scene to knock down the charred remnants of the structure. The cause of the fire is being investigated, but officials say it doesn't appear to be suspicious.
